Pastor pleads guilty in lesbian custody case
A Mennonite pastor accused of helping Lisa Miller flee the country with her 7-year-old daughter in 2009 pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court. Timothy Miller, no relation to Lisa, was accused of buying the woman and child one-way tickets to Nicaragua, where officials believe they remain in hiding. Miller fled in the middle of a custody battle with her former lesbian lover, Janet Jenkins, who eventually got full custody of the child, Isabella. Timothy Miller is the third person convicted in the case. Another Mennonite pastor, Kenneth Miller, was convicted in 2012 and began serving a 27-month sentence in March. Businessman Philip Zodhiates, also a Mennonite, was convicted in September and faces up to eight years in prison when he is sentenced Jan 30. Timothy Miller will serve 12-18 months in prison. He was arrested in Nicaragua earlier this year, but officials have not been able to track down Lisa Miller or Isabella, now 14 years old.
