Oklahoma police find seven bodies during search for missing girls

Oklahoma police on Monday called off the search for two teenage girls thought to be traveling with a convicted sex offender after finding seven bodies on a rural property east of Oklahoma City. The state medical examiner still has to confirm their identities, but Okmulgee County Sheriff Eddy Rice said he believes the girls and the sex offender were among the dead. Janette Mayo, 59, of Westville, Okla., said police notified her that the other four people found shot dead on the property were her daughter and her three teenage grandchildren.

Why were the police searching for the girls? Police had issued a missing endangered person advisory earlier on Monday for 14-year-old Ivy Webster and 16-year-old Brittany Brewer. The advisory said they had been seen traveling with Jesse McFadden, who was convicted of first-degree rape in 2003 and released in 2020. He was scheduled to appear in court on Monday for other charges of soliciting sexual conduct with a minor and possession of child pornography.
