NYPD officer killed in ambush

A New York City police officer was shot to death early Wednesday while sitting inside a command post RV. Officer Miosotis Familia, a 12-year veteran of the New York Police Department, was finishing up paperwork when Alexander Bonds, an ex-convict, fired through the passenger window and struck her in the head. Police chased Bonds and confronted him, then shot him to death after he pulled out a revolver. “This was an unprovoked direct attack on police officers who were assigned to keep the people of this city safe,” Police Commissioner James O’Neill said, calling it an assassination.
