North Carolina shooter kills five, wounds two
Police took a 15-year-old male into custody Thursday after the shooting deaths of five people along a walking trail near a Raleigh, N.C., neighborhood. The suspect was in the hospital with life-threatening injuries as of Friday morning. The victims included an off-duty police officer and a 16-year-old. One officer and a police dog were also wounded, but the officer has been released from the hospital. The other victim is in critical condition.
How did the police catch him? Police got a call at 5:13 p.m. and then told the neighborhood to shelter in place. The suspect killed two people in the neighborhood and then fled to the walking trail. At about 8 p.m., police cornered the suspect in a barn outside of town, law enforcement told local news source WTVD-TV. Police reported that they had the suspect in custody at about 9:40 p.m.
