North Carolina governor’s race delay continues

North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory’s campaign announced late Thursday it filed additional election complaints in 50 counties. The latest complaints bring the total number of contested counties to 52 of the state’s 100 and claim ballots were cast by dead people, felons, and people who already voted. “With each passing day, we discover more and more cases of voting fraud and irregularities,” McCrory campaign manager Russell Peck said. His opponent, Democratic Attorney General Roy Cooper, continues to contend he won the election. “Gov. McCrory has set a new standard for desperation in his attempts to undermine the results of an election he lost,” Cooper spokesman Ford Porter said. Current results have Cooper leading McCrory by about 5,000 votes. County boards of election were set to submit their final provisional and absentee ballot numbers today. McCrory’s announcement will continue to delay the process because counties cannot finalize election results until all complaints are resolved.
