New Mexico police charge suspect with murders of Muslims

Albuquerque police charged a 51-year-old man Tuesday with murdering two Muslim men and said he is a suspect in the murders of two others. The men’s killings incited fear in Muslim communities nationwide. The homicide of 25-year-old Naeem Hussain on Friday followed two killings the week before and one other murder last November.

Do we know the deaths are linked? Chief Harold Medina said earlier this week police have reason to believe the killings are related. The only commonalities in the deaths are the victims’ race and religion, but police have not yet determined whether the killings could be considered hate crimes.
