Nikki Haley says federal protections for unborn “not realistic”
Republican White House hopeful Nikki Haley told Face the Nation on Sunday that she didn’t believe it would be possible to pass laws to protect unborn children at the federal level. The former UN ambassador and governor of South Carolina previously described herself as “pro-life,” argued for a “national consensus” on the issue, and said she wants to save as many lives and help as many mothers as possible.
How are pro-lifers responding? Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America called Haley’s comments unacceptable. SBA said it couldn’t support a candidate who would not work tirelessly to protect infants. SBA previously criticized former President Donald Trump’s position that the states should decide how to protect unborn children. But it later hinted that he might support federal legislation protecting unborn children with exceptions for rape, incest, and the mother’s life.
