Nicole downgraded but still wallops Florida

The storm killed at least two people and sent coastal homes toppling into the ocean on Thursday. Wind, rain, and floods pounded areas that Hurricane Ian assaulted earlier this year. The storm covered nearly all of Florida and reached up into the Carolinas and Georgia on Thursday.

What other effects has the storm had? Gov. Ron DeSantis said at a Thursday news conference in Tallahassee that about 333,000 customers were without power as of that morning. That’s about 2.9 percent of the state’s total. DeSantis said there were 17,000 electricity linemen ready to begin restoring power. He added that the state had the resources to address any post-storm needs that arose.
