French President Emmanuel Macron appointed 34-year-old Gabriel Attal on Tuesday, the day after former Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne stepped down. Borne shared her confidence in Attal’s leadership during a handover ceremony, extolling his “determination and energy.” Attal previously served as Macron’s education minister and is both the youngest and first openly homosexual prime minister in French history.
