Nashville police investigate leak of school shooter’s writings

Conservative podcast host Steven Crowder on Monday posted photos of pages he claimed came from notebooks belonging to The Covenant School shooter. A former student shot and killed three children and three adults on March 27 at the private Christian school in Nashville, Tenn. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department did not confirm the authenticity of the documents but said they were not crime scene photos. The Nashville city attorney said he is conducting a full investigation into the leak.

Why aren’t the documents public? Several groups, including families from The Covenant School and church, have requested that police keep the shooter’s writings private. Some law enforcement associations and media outlets filed a lawsuit earlier this year arguing it is in the public’s best interest to release the documents. The suit is pending.
