More Russian missiles, drones batter Ukraine
A fresh barrage hit civilian targets across Ukraine on Tuesday, following an assault of air, missile, and artillery strikes the day before. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Monday’s offensive targeted military facilities and infrastructure. The strikes hit power plants, causing outages across much of the country.
Why the attacks? Ukrainian soldiers have been gaining ground on the front lines, and a key supply bridge between Russia and Crimea was crippled by an explosion Saturday. Ukraine says Russian forces are taking out their frustration on Ukrainian civilians.
