The moon will pass into the Earth’s shadow on Thursday night, creating a deep partial lunar eclipse, according to NASA. The space agency reported that about 96% of the moon will be hidden by Earth's shadow at the peak of the eclipse.

America’s East Coast and portions of the Midwest will be able to see all three phases of the eclipse, while the West Coast will only see the second and third phases, the space agency said. The eclipse will also be visible in western Europe, western Africa, and all of South America. The eclipse will begin for East Coasters just after 9:20 p.m. EDT, and peak just after midnight. West Coasters will start seeing the eclipse just after 7:30 p.m. PDT, with the peak just after 9 p.m. PDT.
