Tornado kills one in Mississippi as severe weather threatens South
Tornadoes moved through Mississippi on Sunday and cut power for nearly 50,000 people across the state. A tornado killed one person and injured nearly two dozen others in the central Mississippi town of Louin. Forecasters on Monday predicted that severe storms in the Gulf Coast and southeastern states could bring damaging winds, hail, and isolated tornadoes. Temperatures rose 10 to 15 degrees above normal across the region, and some cities opened cooling centers. At least 400,000 people were without power Monday afternoon due to severe weather.
