Missiles drop near U.S. ship off Yemen

Two missiles fired from rebel-held territory in Yemen on Sunday threatened an American destroyer in the Red Sea, the U.S. Navy said today. No American sailors were injured, nor was any damage done to the USS Mason. Though it’s unclear whether the missiles specifically targeted the destroyer, they both landed near it over the course of an hour. Meanwhile, a ballistic missile from Yemen targeted a Saudi air base near Mecca on Sunday, as well. Yemen’s Shiite rebels, known as Houthis, and their allies offered no reason for the launches, but they came after a Saudi-led airstrike targeted a funeral in Yemen’s capital, killing over 140 people and wounding 525 on Saturday.
