McDaniel reelected RNC Chair

Ronna McDaniel will chair the Republican National Committee after her reelection Friday. This will be her fourth two-year term. In a secret ballot election, McDaniel prevailed 111-51 over her primary rival Harmeet Dhillon, a Trump attorney. McDaniel claimed after the vote that the party was united, but Dhillon disagreed. Many agree McDaniel will not be leading the party from a position of strength.

Why does this matter? This is the most contested RNC race in years. Dhillon has accused McDaniel of mismanagement, misspending, and religious bigotry. Many Republicans are frustrated with the party’s direction, especially after recent election losses.
