Man who attacked Nancy Pelosi’s husband sentenced to 30 years

U.S. District Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley on Friday sentenced David DePape, 44, to 30 years behind bars for attacking Paul Pelosi and attempting to kidnap his wife, then-U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

Pelosi and her family were immensely grateful to all who sent love and prayers over the last eighteen months while Mr. Pelosi continued his recovery, said Aaron Bennett, a spokesman for the former House speaker, in a statement.

What happened? A jury last year found DePape guilty of assault and attempted kidnapping when he broke into the Pelosis’ San Francisco home on Oct. 28, 2022, according to a statement by the Justice Department. He assaulted Paul Pelosi with a hammer and tried to kidnap his wife. The Justice Department indicted DePape roughly two weeks later on November 9, 2022.
