Man arrested for making bomb threats near U.S. Capitol
Police are still trying to determine what motivated 49-year-old Floyd Ray Roseberry of North Carolina to drive onto the sidewalk outside the Library of Congress and make bomb threats. The incident triggered a massive police response and the evacuations of government buildings and businesses in the area just steps from the U.S. Capitol grounds on Thursday. Roseberry surrendered after an hourslong standoff.
Was he actually a threat? U.S. Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger said Roseberry had items of concern in his truck, including a propane gas container. Relatives of the suspect said he was distraught over deaths in his family and recent events in his life.
