Malibu neighborhoods evacuate amid Southern California fire
Authorities on Tuesday closed all schools and ordered the evacuation of some areas around Malibu while flames raged uncontained over more than 2,200 acres. The cause of the Franklin Fire—which started yesterday—was under investigation on Tuesday, according to California’s Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
What specific areas were under evacuation orders? Residents in a large swathe of eastern Malibu were ordered to leave because of an immediate threat to their lives and property, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said Tuesday. Elsewhere in Malibu and its surrounding areas, many other people were warned that they or their property could soon be at risk.
