Four dead, three injured in Maine after two shootings

Police arrested a man on Tuesday after the two shootings. Four people were found shot dead in a house in Bowdoin—a town of about 3,000—30 miles south of the state capital of Augusta. Shortly after, another shooting took place 25 miles away, on Interstate 295 near Yarmouth. The second attack injured three people, one critically. Police continue to investigate both scenes.

What was the motive behind the shootings? Police said the two shootings were connected, but did not comment on a motive or reveal the identity of the person they had taken into custody. The shootings follow a spate of recent mass shootings in Alabama, Kentucky, and Tennessee.
