Louisiana digs out from tornado damage

Roughly 300 National Guard members rolled into storm-ravaged parts of Louisiana on Wednesday, clearing roads and providing engineering support. They joined firefighters and others searching damaged homes and buildings to make sure no tornado victims were left behind. The storms are blamed for the death of a woman near Dallas and one person in Louisiana.

What was the damage? A massive EF-3 tornado tore through the New Orleans area Tuesday. One resident described it like a freight train shaking his house as it passed by. The twister flipped a school bus, toppled trees, and ripped off rooftops. It even deposited a house with a family inside it onto the middle of their street. Other severe storms also shredded buildings in Mississippi and Alabama before pushing toward the Atlantic Coast on Wednesday.
