Kushner visits Israel to work on peace deal
Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, travels to the Middle East this week to continue work on a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians. Trump’s international envoy Jason Greenblatt arrived in Israel on Monday. The two will meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas. Trump made a personal appeal for peace during a visit to Israel last month. Meanwhile, Netanyahu said Tuesday that Israel broke ground on a new West Bank settlement to replace one demolished earlier this year. On the campaign trail, Trump indicated he would be more sympathetic to settlements in the disputed territory than his predecessor, but earlier this year he asked Netanyahu to hold back on expanding settlements.
