Amid floods, Kentucky prepares for more rain

High-water rescue crews mobilized Wednesday in Kentucky in response to flash floods. Crews rescued people trapped in houses and vehicles. They did not report any flood-related deaths. Some parts of the region received 6 to 10 inches of rain Wednesday morning, with several more inches in the upcoming forecast.

Are there other flood-related casualties? In Connecticut, a mother and her 5-year-old daughter were swept away in a flood. The mother died after being taken to a hospital, but the daughter is expected to survive. In Pennsylvania, searchers are still trying to find siblings, both under 2 years old, who were swept away on Saturday after their mother drowned. At least five people died in those floods.
