Judge suspends Wyoming’s law to protect the unborn

Wyoming’s only abortion provider, Wellspring Health Access, moved ahead with expansion plans Thursday the day after a state judge suspended a law that protects babies in almost every case. The law went into effect earlier in the week. The Wyoming constitution says residents have a right to healthcare, but the new law defines an unborn baby as a human being, thus defining abortion as the termination of a life. The judge suspended the law for at least two weeks, saying the court must decide whether abortion should be defined as healthcare. Earlier this week, Wyoming also passed the first state law specifically protecting babies from chemical abortions.

Didn’t someone set fire to that abortion center? In May 2022, someone set fire to the building while it was being renovated. Authorities arrested 22-year-old Lorna Roxanne Green for setting the fire, officials said Wednesday. Green, who will appear in court Thursday morning, faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted. Court documents released Thursday say she confessed to investigators.
