Israel prepares to launch ground operation in Gaza

Hundreds of thousands of Israeli troops on Thursday mobilized at the Gaza border ahead of a possible ground maneuver, said Lt. Col. Richard Hecht. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to destroy the Hamas terrorist group after it launched a devastating attack against Israel over the weekend. As of Thursday morning, about 1,417 people have been killed in Gaza, authorities said. More than 1,300 people, including 222 soldiers, have been killed in Israel, the Israeli military said. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday arrived in Tel Aviv where he promised that the United States would support Israel in the war.

What is happening to the people inside Gaza? Thousands of Palestinians on Friday were being evacuated from the area. On Thursday, some there rushed to buy food and supplies ahead of the potential Israeli military operation. Israel has stopped any goods from entering the enclave until Hamas releases the estimated 150 people it is holding hostage, according to Israeli Energy Minister Israel Katz.
