ISIS-linked man convicted of plotting to behead blogger

A Massachusetts man was convicted Wednesday of plotting to behead conservative blogger Pamela Geller. Jurors found David Wright, 28, guilty of all charges, including conspiracy to commit acts of terrorism transcending national boundaries. Wright, who authorities say fell under the influence of Islamic State (ISIS), conspired with his uncle and a third man to kill Geller because she organized a cartoon contest in Texas in 2015 that featured the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Geller is the president of the American Freedom Defense Initiative, an advocacy group opposed to “the Islamization of America.” Wright faces up to life in prison. Wright’s uncle, Ussamah Rahim, was shot and killed by Boston police in 2015 after he lunged at them with a knife. The other man accused, Nicholas Rovinski, pleaded guilty last year and faces 15 to 22 years in prison.
