IRS whistleblowers accuse DOJ of meddling

Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler on Wednesday told the House Oversight Committee that they believe the Justice Department interfered with an investigation into President Joe Biden’s son. The House Ways and Means Committee last month released testimony from the IRS agents, but Ziegler remained anonymous until Wednesday’s hearing. The two men claim the DOJ blocked them from investigating certain aspects of Hunter Biden’s financial dealings. The DOJ denies the allegations.

What other claims have been made? The agents said they uncovered evidence supporting multiple felony and misdemeanor tax crimes that were more serious than the charges the younger Biden currently faces. Shapley said the work could potentially have connected the president to the case had they been given appropriate freedom to investigate.
