America's intervention in the conflict between Israel and Iran will only bring great suffering upon itself, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Wednesday morning. America would sustain irreparable damage if it gets involved, he added. Iran has firmly opposed both imposed war and forced peace, Khamenei noted. The nation never has nor will be subjugated and will never surrender to anyone, he added.
Khamenei’s comments came after U.S. President Donald Trump called for Iran’s total surrender on Tuesday after nearly a week of ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel. Iran’s so-called supreme leader is an easy target, and American patience is running thin, Trump said. Israel first targeted an Iranian nuclear site with missiles last Thursday in an attempt to stunt the country’s nuclear program. Iran retaliated in kind, and the countries have continued to exchange missile volleys. Wednesday marked the sixth day of back-and-forth missile strikes.
What was the latest strike? The Israeli Air Force struck military targets in the Iranian capital of Tehran, according to a Wednesday update from the Israel Defense Forces. Over two dozen fighter jets took out over 40 pieces of Iranian missile infrastructure and storage sites in Iran, the IDF said earlier Wednesday morning. Israel made significant blows to the Iranian regime’s military targets, IDF Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin said. Israeli forces also struck production sites for illegal uranium enrichment, missiles, and other aircraft, the IDF said early Wednesday morning. The IDF’s announcements came after a late-night attack from Iran on Tuesday.
Any other news? Israel is running low on its Arrow defensive missiles, according to an exclusive Wednesday morning report by The Wall Street Journal, citing an unnamed U.S. official. The official said the shortage raised concerns about Israel’s ability to intercept long-range missiles fired by Iran unless the conflict ends soon.
