Inmate, two bailiffs dead after Michigan courthouse shooting
Three people died and two were injured in a shooting at the Berrien County courthouse in St. Joseph, Mich., today. Sheriff Paul Bailey said a deputy and a bailiff were taking an inmate from the nearby county jail to court when a fight broke out and the inmate disarmed one of the officers. The inmate shot the deputy, two bailiffs, and a civilian, killing both of the bailiffs. Law enforcement officers responding to the attack shot and killed the inmate. Bailey did not release the identities of the people involved in the shooting but said the two people who died were longtime law enforcement officers and had been bailiffs for about 10 years.
