Indiana upholds pro-life law
The Indiana Supreme Court on Friday ruled that a law protecting almost all unborn babies in the state from abortion does not violate the state constitution. Lawmakers last summer passed the legislation, and a lower court judge issued a temporary injunction against it. The higher court’s decision ended that injunction, but it will not put the law immediately into effect.
What else is happening in pro-life news? Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health on Thursday reported that a 2021 Texas law protecting unborn babies from as soon as five weeks of gestation led to almost 10,000 additional births in the state. Johns Hopkins also reported that a 2022 study showed that the number of abortions decreased by 38 percent in and around the state after the law took effect.
