Indiana hero saves babies taken by carjacker

An Indianapolis man on Monday found two baby girls abandoned on the side of the road in freezing weather, according to television station WTHR. The unnamed good Samaritan happened upon the four- and five-month-old children while he was checking his mail. They were still strapped into their car seats, left on the side of the road in weather below 30 degrees. The man brought the girls inside and called 911. The girls, who were later revealed to be cousins, were returned to their families after being treated by paramedics.

How did the babies end up on the side of the road? The girls were in the back of a 2013 Hyundai Sonata when it was stolen by a carjacker about four miles from where the girls were dumped during the getaway, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. The stolen car was found several blocks from where the girls were left and the suspect in the incident was still at large on Tuesday, according to WTHR.
