Illinois officials find more fetal remains
Ulrich Klopfer, the deceased abortionist who stored 2,200 fetal remains in his garage, had five more plastic bags and a box of medically preserved baby body parts in the trunk of one of his cars. The sheriff’s office in Will County, Ill., said Wednesday it found fewer than 100 fetal remains in the vehicle, but the investigation is ongoing. Klopfer’s family discovered the first batch of remains in his garage on Sept. 12.
How do the new findings affect the investigation? The sheriff’s department said the smaller set of remains were packaged and marked like the ones found at Klopfer’s home and coincide with the time frame in which he performed abortions in neighboring Indiana. “We anticipate simply adding these remains into the protocol we have already set up for dealing with these disturbing circumstances,” Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill said. Illinois transferred the evidence discovered last month to Indiana, where authorities are working to track down the mothers.
