IDF vows to repay Iran for striking Golan Heights soccer match

The terrorist group Hezbollah attacked northern Israel Saturday evening with missiles, killing a dozen children, the Israel Defense Forces said. The IDF said it traced the Falaq rocket used in the attack back to Hezbollah. The Lebanese terror group in a statement denied responsibility for the explosion at the soccer field, numerous media outlets reported. Hezbollah is widely thought to receive backing from Iran.

The group fired about 40 projectiles into Israel, with one hitting a soccer field in Majdal Shams, the IDF said. The attack killed 12 children between 10 and 16 years old, according to an IDF statement. Over 20 more children and young people were injured, IDF spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said. Whoever launches rocket attacks on such a developed area wants to kill civilians and children, said Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi.

How has Israel responded? The Iran-backed terror group will pay for this attack, said Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. Israeli Air Force fighter jets attacked a series of Hezbollah terror targets throughout Lebanon late Saturday night. Hundreds of people attended a communal mourning service for the children on Sunday. IAF fighters also shot down another unmanned aerial vehicle sent from Lebanon on Sunday with no casualties, the group confirmed.
