Idaho mall shooting suspect dies

Police exchanged gunfire with 27-year-old Jacob Berquist as he ran from the scene of a shooting at Boise Towne Square Mall on Monday. He died Tuesday morning at an area hospital. Officials identified two other people killed in the attack as Roberto Padilla Arguelles, 49, and Jo Acker, a 26-year-old security guard who worked at the mall.

What happened at the mall? Callers notified police of the shooting at about 1:50 p.m. on Monday. They described a white man dressed in black, in possession of multiple guns. The suspect shot Arguelles and Acker, then walked through the mall, firing rounds into the floor. Four people were injured, including one driver who was hit as officers and the suspect engaged in a gunfight outside a nearby business along a busy road. Police said they did not yet know the shooter’s motive. They searched a Boise home and were looking through Berquist’s social media accounts for clues.
