Idaho mall shooting leaves two dead

Two people died and four others sustained injuries after a person with a gun opened fire at a shopping mall in Boise, Idaho, on Monday afternoon. The sounds of the gunfire echoing through the city’s Boise Towne Square shopping mall sent dozens of people running out while others sought cover inside stores. Boise Police Chief Ryan Lee said responding officers exchanged fire with the suspect, who was injured and remains in critical condition. A police officer injured in the shootout was treated and released.

What spurred the attack? Lee said authorities are still investigating the case and did not release any details on the suspect or motive. He added that investigators believe there was only one shooter and no ongoing security threat.
