Globe Trot: House readies for Hillary's Benghazi testimony

LIBYA: Tomorrow House Republicans will grill Hillary Clinton on what happened in Benghazi while hoping to avoid more self-inflicted wounds. Look for more questions to focus on that private email server:

“The most important aspect of her emails that anyone should be paying attention to is the fact that we don’t have answers as to why she was using a private email account and avoiding the Federal Records Act and why the State Department failed to respond to legitimate requests from journalists under the Freedom of Information Act for her emails years before this scandal was ever revealed.”

CANADA: Hours after leading his Liberal Party to a convincing victory in the polls, Canadian Prime Minister-designate Justin Trudeau informed U.S. President Barack Obama Canada would be pulling out of the airstrike campaign against Islamic State. Trudeau, a 43-year-old father of three, ran a centrist campaign against incumbent Stephen Harper’s embattled Conservative Party but promises to govern like a liberal in the mold of his father, long-serving Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau.

RUSSIA: President Bashar al-Assad made a surprise visit to Moscow, as Russian President Vladimir Putin moves into chief negotiating role in the Middle East.

SYRIA: My report on the videotaped executions by ISIS of Assyrian Christians from Khabur River, the first of Syrian Christians being executed—with promises of more to come.

AUSTRIA is unprepared for a flood of non-European migrants, and fear is fueling the rise of the nationalist Austrian Freedom Party in local elections.

MIGRANTS: Two worthwhile perspectives sparked by Europe’s migrant crisis—Bret Stephens on the continent’s moral incompetence and John Piper on God’s power to turn a great wave of migration into a great gospel advance.
