Gaza pier expected to be ready for aid delivery in 60 days

Pentagon spokesman Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder said Tuesday that U.S. Army ships were en route to the Eastern Mediterranean to begin construction on a temporary pier intended to get more humanitarian aid into Gaza. President Joe Biden promised the pier in his State of the Union Address last week.

How much aid would this bring into Gaza? Ryder said the pier would help transport “up to 2 million meals daily” into Gaza. He said it would complement additional international operations to get aid into the embattled region.
