Fox weighs CEO’s future after harassment claims
Rumors are swirling about the possible departure of CEO Roger Ailes from Fox News amid a sexual harassment scandal. NPR and The Drudge Report both reported Tuesday that Fox had offered Ailes a buyout worth tens of millions of dollars. Fox refused to confirm the report, issuing a statement saying, “The review is ongoing. And the only agreement that is in place is his existing employment agreement.” Ailes’ attorney Susan Estrich told The Daily Beast, “What I can say is there’s a lot of talk going on … at Fox with various people involved.” Ailes founded the network in 1996 and has been at the helm since then. Former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson sued Ailes earlier this month, claiming he fired her because she refused his repeated sexual advances.
