Former president goes bald, willingly
At an age where most men are fighting to keep their hair, the 41st President of the United States willingly gave his up for a good cause. Former President George H.W. Bush, 89, recently shaved his head in solidarity with a 2-year-old leukemia patient, according to a report from Yahoo! News.
The little boy—identified only as Patrick—is the son of a member of Bush’s security detail. When the former president found out many members of the detail had shaved in support of Patrick and his father, Jon, he volunteered to do the same.
The Secret Service unit also created a website to help defray medical costs and organized a 50-mile motorcycle ride through Maine to raise funds. The Bush family has donated to the cause.
Bush brings a very personal touch to his support for leukemia victims. The former president lost his daughter, Robin, to leukemia when she was 4 years old.
