Florida bill would require abortionists to save babies born alive

A Florida House committee approved a bill Thursday requiring abortionists to seek medical care for newborns born alive, after a Planned Parenthood official said the decision “should be left up to the woman, her family, and the physician.”

Another Planned Parenthood spokeswoman, Lillian Tamayo, backtracked the statement, saying “While HB 1129 addresses a situation that is extremely unlikely and highly unusual, if the scenario presented by the legislation should happen, of course a Planned Parenthood doctor would provide appropriate care to both the woman and the infant.”

Under the bill, failure to treat these newborns or have them transported to a hospital would be a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail, a $1,000 fine, or both.

The video of Planned Parenthood lobbyist Alisa LaPolt Snow endorsing the right to kill babies born alive after botched late-term abortions gained 382,800 views online and attracted media attention from conservative publications. Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus wrote an article on RedState.com calling out Planned Parenthood’s support of infanticide and the mainstream media’s bias for not covering the story.

“Not once in her testimony did the Planned Parenthood representative say the newborn baby has a right to life,” Priebus wrote. “Whether the living, breathing child survives is up to the adults in the room because, as we now know, Planned Parenthood doesn’t believe the baby has rights.”
