Fighting continues in northern Syria

Mortars are flying in northern Syria, but Turkey insists it is only firing in self-defense and upholding the Oct. 17 cease-fire agreement. Dave Eubank with the humanitarian group Free Burma Rangers said he escaped a Turkish attack this weekend in the village of Soda, where drone strikes wounded Kurds.

What did the cease-fire accomplish? The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces are withdrawing from northern Syria, something the Turks have wanted for a long time. Russian and Syrian government troops are moving in to secure the border with Turkey. So it’s unclear why Turkish bombs continue to fall, particularly in civilian areas.
