FBI says terror threats increasing in U.S. since Israel-Hamas war

On Sunday, Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Christopher Wray said his organization did not discount the possibility that foreign terrorist groups could exploit the situation in Israel by attacking domestic U.S. targets. He said his agency was working to mitigate the threats, most of which the FBI has labeled as not credible.

Who could be behind these attacks? Wray said that the FBI had seen an increase in threats against Jewish and Muslim people, as well as against Jewish and Islamic religious institutions. A former Hamas leader late last week had called for an international “Day of Jihad” on Friday, but few attacks were reported that day. Meanwhile, police in Illinois said a 71-year-old landlord killed a Muslim woman and her 6-year-old son on Monday after she suggested they “pray for peace” in the Gaza region.
