FBI releases photos and video of bombing suspects
The FBI released photos and video of two male suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing, asking the public’s help in identifying them.
One man, referred to as “Suspect 1,” is shown wearing a dark baseball cap, while the other man, “Suspect 2,” is wearing a white cap backward (see video clip and photo slideshow below). The two were seen walking together among marathon spectators prior to the bombings, and, according to the FBI’s Richard DesLauriers, the one in the white cap was seen setting down a backpack at the site of the second explosion.
“Somebody out there knows these individuals as friends, neighbors, co-workers, or family members of the suspects,” DesLauriers said. “Though it may be difficult, the nation is counting on those with information to come forward and provide it to us.”
DesLauriers said the two men are considered armed and extremely dangerous. “Do not take any action on your own,” he warned those who may encounter them.
Soon after the announcement, the FBI website crashed under the weight of visitors trying to view the photos.
