FBI looks into DNC cyberattack

The FBI announced today it is investigating how thousands of emails from the Democratic National Committee (DNC) were hacked and leaked. The emails, posted on the website WikiLeaks on Friday, insinuate the DNC gave Hillary Clinton preference over Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., during the presidential primary season. The Clinton campaign says Russian hackers committed the attack and released the emails to benefit Donald Trump, the clear favorite of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump called that claim a joke, but Sanders supporters are not laughing. The leak prompted the resignation of DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz on the eve of the party’s convention in Philadelphia.
