Fauci texts garner backlash after revealing COVID vaccine miscarriage concerns

A Senate committee released text messages Monday that critics of Dr. Anthony Fauci said showed Fauci was aware of concerns that symptoms of a second COVID-19 vaccine dose could cause miscarriage in the first trimester. The release caused a slew of pushback from officials and the general public.

The country’s longtime top infectious disease official admitted in a January 2021 conversation that the reactions to the second vaccine dose “theoretically could be associated with miscarriage in the 1st trimester.” Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., who released the texts along with Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., said in a Monday statement that the information could have an immediate impact on public health and the principle of informed consent. The statement also cited several public statements made by federal health officials calling the vaccine safe. In an archived page, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention encouraged all pregnant women and those thinking about getting pregnant to take the vaccine.

Paul in a Monday statement characterized the texts as an example of Fauci saying one thing in public and something completely different in private. Fauci was willing to put women and their unborn babies at risk instead of admitting that he was wrong about the vaccines he attempted to guilt Americans into taking, Paul added.

Isabel Brown, host of a conservative talk show who describes herself as an avid supporter of women’s health and childbirth, accused Fauci of telling lies and committing a crime against humanity. In any civilized society, the people responsible for the mass slaughter of innocent life would be held accountable, but instead, they respond by invoking their Fifth Amendment rights, she continued.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier said the new information will be a major part of his state’s ongoing investigation into Fauci.

How has Dr. Fauci responded to the allegations? Previously, Fauci has accused Paul of being obsessed with calling for his prosecution, making repeated, slanderous comments about him, and releasing his private diary for the sole purpose of embarrassing and intimidating him. He went on to characterize Paul as unhinged.
