Fauci: It’s time to relax mask guidance
The number of COVID-19 cases per day will continue to decrease as more people get vaccinated, the president’s chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos this week. As that happens, Fauci said he thought “we do need to start being more liberal” about indoor mask requirements. Former FDA Commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb told CBS the United States should end broad face-covering guidance and allow individuals to take precautions appropriate to their risk level. He said all restrictions on outdoor events should be lifted, along with some indoor restrictions.
What is the latest from the CDC? In April, the CDC updated its guidance to say vaccinated people do not need to wear masks outside unless they are in crowds. It still advised people to wear masks when indoors with unvaccinated people.
