Ex-employee likely sought revenge in Oklahoma airport shooting
Oklahoma City police said the suspect in a deadly shooting outside the airport Tuesday likely sought retaliation against his former employer, Southwest Airlines. Authorities said Lloyd Dean Buie shot and killed Southwest employee Michael Winchester as he was leaving work and walking to his car. The shot came from about 50 yards away and was fired from a rifle. Oklahoma City police Capt. Paco Balderamma said he did not know whether Buie, who left his job with the airline in 2015, specifically targeted Winchester, but the killing appeared to have been premeditated. Police found Buie dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in his vehicle in an airport parking garage. Normal operations resumed at the Will Rodgers World Airport today after 25 flights were canceled Tuesday following the shooting.
