EgyptAir black box retrieved from ocean

A search vessel has found the cockpit voice recorder of the EgyptAir passenger plane that crashed last month in the Mediterranean Sea. The so-called black box is damaged, investigators said today, but searchers managed to salvage the memory unit. The data from it could provide clues into the cause of the May 19 crash, which so far is a mystery. No terror group has claimed responsibility for bringing down the plane, and analysts say they don’t have enough information yet to rule out either an attack or mechanical failure.
