Double suicide attack in Iraq kills 38 people

At least 38 people died and dozens of others sustained injuries Monday after a twin bombing at a busy street market in central Baghdad, Iraqi officials confirmed. The two suicide bombers set off their explosives during rush hour at the city’s Tayaran Square. At least 105 other people sustained injuries. Laborers searching for daily work usually gather at the square. Videos posted online by the Kurdish Rudaw news agency show people fleeing the square following the explosion and others carrying the bodies of some of the injured. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. Monday’s bombing is the deadliest since security forces recaptured a majority of the territory held by the Islamic State group.
