DOJ: Case closed on Clinton emails

Attorney General Loretta Lynch announced Wednesday that the Justice Department’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email setup while she was secretary of state has been formally closed without any criminal charges. The announcement comes one day after FBI Director James Comey refused to recommend any charges be filed after his agency’s investigation. Lynch, who had previously said she would accept the FBI’s findings, met with Comey and prosecutors Wednesday. ”I received and accepted their unanimous recommendation that the thorough, year-long investigation be closed and that no charges be brought against any individuals within the scope of the investigation,” Lynch said in a statement. Comey is scheduled to face questions Thursday from the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee about his decision. Lynch is also scheduled to appear at a hearing on Capitol Hill next week. The New York Times reported Sunday that Clinton planned to retain Lynch as attorney general if she was elected president.
