Disney closes beaches after alligator attacks toddler
The Walt Disney World Resort closed all beaches at its Orlando, Fla., theme park today after an alligator snatched a 2-year-old boy from the shore of a resort hotel Tuesday night. The boy and his father, mother, and 4-year-old sister were walking along a man-made beach on the shore of the Seven Seas Lagoon when the attack happened. Despite the “no swimming” signs, the boy was wading at the water’s edge. Search teams are using helicopters, sonar, boats, and an alligator trapper to try to recover the child’s body. Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said alligator sightings are not uncommon in large bodies of water in Florida.
